They have reached their peak and are about to experience a sharp decline in baptisms over the next few years. I'd say the life expectancy of the JW cult is about another 25 to 30 years...

Fudging the Numbers: Is the WTBTS in decline?
by Coded Logic init's no secret that the wtbts has a cash flow problem.
over the past three years they have closed 20 of their 116 branches.
they have sold off most of their properties in and around ny (including some kingdom halls), drastically reduced the # of printed pages for the watchtower and awake magazines, reduced the printing of books and other materials, increased the number of single page tract campagnes, installed cc machines at their assembly halls, and are now seizing of controll of property assets from local kingdom halls using renovation projects.

Did the WT totally "luck out" with World War I starting in 1914?
by lepermessiah inmy family is still fixated on the 1914 date, simply because world war i started that year.. i told them i will agree it is a significant year in world history, but that the 1914 date as presented by jw's is based on lies and charlatanry.. i said "i think the wt really lucked out with 1914 with wwi starting that year - it keeps most jw's stuck on that date" .
the standard answer is "well, that was the year everything went haywire"...... let the circular reasoning continue .

Several "Dooms-Day" religions of the late 19th century predicted dates for Armageddon such as 1912, 1913 and 1914... when Armageddon didn't happen, Russell thought of a good way to use WWI in his favor...

Was Charles Russell delusional or just a con artist?
by keyser soze ini've seen him referred to as both on this forum.. did he sincerely believe that he was an inspired prophet whose end-time predictions and biblical interpretations came from god?
or was he just a shrewd businessman who saw a market of disillusioned christians who believed that armageddon was imminent that he could exploit?.
i personally lean toward the latter.. .

If I were to guess, I'd say that Russell was about 30% delusional, 40% deceptive and 30% narcissistic.

I remember when nearly all "experiences" that were shared at the KH usually ended with a Bible Study being started... Now they're happy to talk about experiences where brothers were able to actually have "conversations" whether these resulted in Bible Studies or not... Borderline pathetic.

The Books That Redefined C.T. Russell's Beliefs
by Maat13 inaccording to wt history, as a youth/young man, ct russell was unsatisfied with a number of explanations he was taught about the bible.
as a result he went on a quest to 'study' the bible himself.
ultimately this led to an organization that now requires its members to read bible aids to help them understand the bible.

He very likely read "The Even Tide" written by John Aquila Brown in 1823.

Elders pretty much do whatever they want!
by toto555 ini've seen elders over the years openly flaunt "the rules", butt-kiss (the co especially), show favoritism and appoint brothers they like and not appoint brothers that should of been appointed for some trivial reason.
many lord their "power" over the friends in blatant violation of scriptures and watchowers that specifically say that they shouldn't lord themselves over the flock.
they pretty much do what they want!

Caleb and Sophia visit Bethel for the last time - Photo Gallery

Why does Caleb say "When I grow up, I want to go the Bethel" at the end of this video?
Doesn't he know that "The End" is just around the corner (again) and he will never grow old in this system of things?

Here's a Jewish Tabernacle turned into a Jehovah's Witnesses Assembly/ Kingdom Hall in New York...
Also, check out this other jewish tabernacle turned into an assembly / kingdom hall in New York.
And there's plenty more aroud the globe. This happened when the Rothschilds saw more income opportunities with their Watchtower business in the 70's and started signing over Property Titles from their Jewish churches to the Jehovah's Witnesses...
Follow the money...
